Hello Passionfish’ers,
>
Yesterday, KPBS 89.5 FM Radio (the National Public Radio station in San Diego) explored the topic of aquaculture (fish farming). Click to listen. “These Days” show host Tom Fudge did a great job posing fair, thoughtful questions to our colleague, Mark Drawbridge, Senior Research Scientist and Director of the Aquaculture Program at Hubbs Sea World Research Institute (HSWRI). HSWRI is a world-class scientific research and education organization that, among their many other worthy conservation and habitat protection activities, raises fish in their state-of-the-art hatchery to help replenish wild populations. They are looking to raise finfish commercially to help take pressure off wild-caught fish populations as consumer demand for seafood continues to skyrocket worldwide.

Andrew Spurgin, co-founder of Passionfish and Executive Director of Waters Fine Catering, is also featured on the program. Andrew explains why he believes aquaculture is part of the food supply solution.
>
Mark Drawbridge is also the Executive Director of the California Aquaculture Association. Check out our previous post in which we interviewed Mark about buying local.
